I too had a moment when Mariachi musicians really amazed me at their sheer competence and excitement…and they were playing at a humble swap meet in Abuquerque, NM! I loved the sheer energy of the players, their costumes and the obvious effort they made.
I too have had a lifelong interest in music, in my case opera.
And, other than enjoying this Mexican art form, I am totally ignorant of its history or modern players.
So thanks for writing this book!
