Ken Auletta has written Annals of Communications columns and profiles for The New Yorker magazine since 1992. He is the author of numerous books, including four national bestsellers: Three Blind Mice: How the TV Networks Lost Their Way; Greed And Glory On Wall Street: The Fall of The House of Lehman; The Highwaymen: Warriors of the Information Super Highway, and World War 3.0: Microsoft and Its Enemies.

His new book, Googled: The End of the World as We Know It, not only takes us inside the inner workings of Google, but also profiles online giant’s founders.

Auletta will serve as the Master of Ceremonies at the BEA 2009 Book and Author Luncheon. He will be joined by panelists Pat Conroy, author of South of Broad; Lorrie Moore, author of A Gate at the Stairs; and Dan Pink, author of Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Truly Motivates Us.

Tracy Kidder is a Pulitzer Prize-winning author whose books include The Soul of a New Machine, Mountains Beyond Mountains, My Detachment, and Home Town.

His new book, Strength in What Remains, tells the story of Deo, who grew up in the mountains of Burundi, and survived a civil war and genocide before seeking a new life in America. After finding an education at Columbia University, Deo returns to his native country to help people there, as well as people in the United States.

Kidder will be a part of the Saturday Book and Author Breakfast at BEA 2009. He will be joined on this panel by Jeannette Walls, author of Half Broke Horses: A True Life Novel; and Ben Mezrich, author of The Accidental Billionaires.

Late night host Craig Ferguson, author of American on Purpose: A Memoir, will be the Master of Ceremonies

Richard Russo is a Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist, whose books include Nobody’s Fool, Empire Falls, and Bridge of Sighs. His highly anticipated new novel, That Old Cape Magic, is due out in August 2009.

At BEA 2009, Russo will sit on the Sunday Book and Author Breakfast panel. He will be joined by Gail Collins, author of When Everything Changed: The Amazing Journey of American Women from 1950 to the Present; and Pete Dexter, author of Spooner.

Joe Scarborough, author of The Last Best Hope: Restoring Conservatism and America’s Promise will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the event.

Chuck Klosterman is the New York Times bestselling author of Chuck Klosterman IV; Killing Yourself to Live; Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs; and Fargo Rock City, winner of the ASCAP-Deems Taylor Award. He is a featured columnist for Esquire, a contributor to The New York Times Magazine, and has also written for Spin, The Washington Post, The Guardian, The Believer, and ESPN.

Klosterman’s latest book – and first novel – is Downtown Owl. He will also be releasing Eating the Dinosaur, a new collection of essays, in late 2009.

At BEA 2009, Klosterman will host the Opening Night Keynote, which will feature rockers Steven Tyler, legendary singer and front man for Aerosmith, and author of Does the Noise in My Head Bother You?, and Clarence Clemons, famed saxophonist for Bruce Springsteen’s E-Street Band, and author of Big Man. Tyler and Clemons will discuss their memoirs and provide behind-the-scenes and ultimate insider accounts of their lives on (and off!) the big stage.
